Support for State House Bill 1408
SeattleFWC26 encourages Seattle sports fan to join us in supporting House Bill 1408, legislation introduced by Representative Sharon Tomiko Santos to strengthen and fund stadium-area Community Preservation and Development Authorities (CPDAs). The bill will provide long‑term, stable resources for these community‑driven organizations working to preserve cultural identity, support small businesses, and address displacement pressures in the stadium district's historically significant neighborhoods.
" The goals of HB 1408 align with our commitment to ensuring that major events, including the FIFA World Cup 26, contribute positively to local communities," said Peter Tomozawa, Chief Executive Officer for SeattleFWC26. "Strong, well‑resourced neighborhoods are essential to showcasing our region’s cultural diversity, supporting local residents and businesses, and welcoming visitors."
The bill passed out the Senate Ways and Means Committee on Monday, March 2nd and next will be considered for possible action by the full State Senate before March 12th. The bill has already unanimously passed the House of Representatives.
