LUMEN FIELD WAS BUILT TO HOST THE WORLD CUP.
Constructed in 2002, with 72,000 capacity and a built-in 325,000 square foot event space, Lumen was built ready to showcase Seattle and soccer to the world. When it was first erected, the venue was built with international soccer in mind and was built to the standards of the then-current stadium standards.
In alignment with the Seattle 2026 World Cup bid commitment to host the event while minimizing greenhouse gas emissions, Lumen Field has been operating with sustainable event management practices for years. As a founding member of the Green Sport Alliance, the facility has a 98% waste diversion program and its event center leverages solar power to return electricity back to the grid during the summer months.
